Candyland on Washington Circle

Our kitchen is a bit sticky over here as I prepare for St. Nick! It's ok though, these easy, delicious candy recipes are perfect to package up and stick in your loved ones shoes signed and sealed from good ol' St. Nick!

Applesauce Cherry Gummy Squares and Worms

2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cup applesauce
2 - 3oz boxes of jello (any flavor!)
2 envelopes of Knox gelatin
1 tsp lemon juice
a lot of sugar for dusting

Directions: Combine sugar, applesauce, jello, gelatin and lemon juice in medium saucepan. While stirring bring to boil and let boil for 1 minute. Pour into 9x13 inch pan lined with parchment. Let chill in fridge for at least 3 hours. To remove, pry up the parchment and flip over onto cutting board. This will be so sticky you'll think you did something wrong, you didn't {or we both did}! Coat with sugar. Tons. Cut into desired shape and roll in sugar. The Sugar will de-stick it. Bag up and give away! Adapted from this gumdrop recipe.
