Last night's leftover baguette turns french toast. Super easy, and decadently delicious! Soak in egg / milk mixture with a hint of orange and sugar and then toast on cast iron pan or griddle. A really fun way to use up that leftover baguette before it dries out.
1/2 a baguette (or whole baguette, but that is all we had left! Recipe will soak the entire baguette).
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons orange juice
4 teaspoons sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 eggs and 1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon salt
maple syrup and powdered sugar to serve
Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and whisk. Slice baguette 1-2 inches thick and place in the bowl to soak. Soak for 15 minutes.
Heat a griddle or pan on medium and add 1 tablespoon butter. Place baguette on the griddle and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side.
Serve with powdered sugar and syrup.
