Easter is one of my favorite holidays. Second to Christmas, of course, because it is Christmas! That said, I just love all of the pastel colors, fuzzy bunnies, and sweet images of spring! I am a sucker for an Easter egg hunt, and speaking religiously, it is a wonderful celebration. Easter morning is particularly special to me. As I mentioned, we are Christian and have a wonderful church family at First Presbyterian in Lake Forest. Although it is a sacred day for our family, I also want to make sure that we incorporate the fun crafts and bunny traditions that I have always loved! I love dyeing eggs, see these Cool Whip ones!, and making sure the Easter Bunny makes an appearance each year, bringing Cooper a basket and hiding a bunch of eggs. All of these things are something that I am very excited about as a new mom.
As Cooper is too little to understand, I am aware that this was probably more fun for me than for him, but I truly believe that it is never too early to start a tradition, and it is never too silly of an idea if that idea brings more love and sunshine into the home in all sorts of different ways. Here are a few of my ideas for Easter morning, plus some of my inexpensive and easy finds for the basket!
On Easter morning we plan to make a fun breakfast. Perhaps breakfast in bed, as we love to snuggle in the morning. As you can see, Paisley places herself in the center of everything :). Try this Cinnamon Roll Casserole or Banana Chocolate Chip Pancake Casserole. Make these Easy Donuts and treat yourself to a little mango-mosa! Recipe calls for Fre non-alcoholic wine, but this year I will be pouring the real stuff!
Hide eggs! Why not, right? Sure, Cooper is too little to find them but I can hide a few for Alex and he can hide a few for me. Maybe we can even hide a bone for P!
This year I will place the basket by the door with eggs scattered everywhere to show that the bunny just popped by! I wanted to share with you the fun items that I have found for Cooper’s Easter basket nice and early, hoping that if you are in need for some fun ideas you find them in this adorable basket!
I am a big-time bargain shopper. I love TJ Maxx, Babie’s R Us had a huge (going out of business, tear) sale, and when Gap Baby has an extra 50% off sale items you can find some amazing things! Target’s dollar section gets me every time, and an adorable boutique in Lake Forest has two big events annually and I can always find some great clothes, like these Kissy Kiss giraffe PJs!
So, let’s get started! I am going to walk you thru the cuteness starting with his classic basket from Pottery Barn Kids. It was close to impossible to choose one, as they have SO many and they are all SO adorable! I went with the classic basket color. God willing, we plan to have more children and I liked that this design could be for a girl or a boy and down the line they can match! I am a sucker for a good monogram, so of course Cooper’s name was added to the sweet rabbit basket cover.
Now for the goods! Well you need a good bunny! I found the big white one by Bunnies By the Bay at TJ Maxx and the blue bunny "lovie" or also known as a soother is by Jelly Cat. Cooper gets a new sweater from Gap Baby, a pair of PJs by Kissy Kissy are as soft as they are too-stinkin-cute with all those giraffes on them!
The Noah's Ark book is from Amazon, a nice way to talk about Christianity with kids is to read and so I love Noah’s Ark books because the animals are fun to look at! Not going to lie, we have a few Noah’s Ark books haha! The toys and pacifiers are from Target and this Peter rabbit dish-ware set was actually a gift from a friend, and it is toooooo adorable not to add to his basket!
What am I missing? I think that is it! Here are the sources below, with links to purchase!
